அளம்பல் மரம்

a. வெடங் குறுணி, மலையாளத்தில் சாதாரணமாய் உற்பத்தியாகும் ஓர் மரம். இதன் பூக்கள் வெண்மையாயும் இலைகள் அடர்த்தியாயும் பார்வைக்கு அழகாயுமிருக்கும். குளிர் காலத்தில் இலை உதிரும். இதன் பழம் மிருதுவாயிருக்கும். சாப்பிட உதவும். இம்மரத்தினின்று ஓர்வித எண்ணெய்ச் சத்து எடுத்துச் சரும நோய்க்கு உபயோகிப்பார்கள்.

b. A tree; walking stick bignonia – Sereospermum xylocarpum. It is a native of Malabar; its flowers are white, and the leaves deciduous in cold weather and also ornamental; the tender fruit is edible. A thick fluid of the colour and consistence of Stockholm tar is obtained from this tree and it is used by Veidyans as a remedy for scaly eruptions on the skin.
