அமிர்த சுரோணிதம்

இந்திர கோபப் பூச்சி - இது சிகப்பாயும், சகலாத்தைப் போல், மிருதுவாயும், பட்டாணி அளவுள்ளதாயும், தட்டையாயும் உள்ளது. இது மாரி காலத்தில் முதல் மழை பெய்யுங்கால், செம்மண் தரைகளில் உற்பத்தியாகும். நமது நாட்டு வைத்தியர்கள் இதைப் பாம்பு கடிக்கும், பலத்தைத் தருவதற்கும் உபயோகப்படுத்துவார்கள் - Lady fly or scarlet moth – Mothlla occidentalis alias M.antiguensis. It is a scarlet velvety – soft insect, about the size of a large pea, but flat. It is commonly found in reddish sandy soil after the first rain of the monsoon. Vaidyans use it in snake – bites and also as a tonic. It should not be confounded with foreign cochineal insect or indigenous lac insect
